It’s been a memorable season for Northampton Town Women.

The Cobblers remain unbeaten in the league, they went further in the FA Cup than they ever have done before and they’re in the Semi-Finals of the League Cup as well as the Final of the County Cup.

Lou Barry and Josh Oldfield’s side will make history again on Sunday 13th March when their league match against Loughborough Students will take place at Sixfields Stadium to mark International Women’s Day.

Cobblers Women have played there before. 602 fans watched their 9-2 win against Rotherham United in September.

The Northampton Town Football Club Community Trust, which funds Northampton Town Women, hopes that over 1,000 will attend the Loughborough game.

Every fixture is important for Barry and Oldfield’s side at this stage of the season as they sit three points clear at the top of the table with one game in hand on their closest challengers Chesterfield.

The Loughborough fixture follows a League Cup Semi-Final tie against divisional rivals Lincoln United and precedes back to back meetings with 3rd placed Mansfield Town in the league.

The Cobblers are also in the County Cup Final and details of their match against local rivals Peterborough United are to be confirmed in the near future.

The end of the season is a long way away, but stats up to this point in the campaign suggest that Northampton have every right to be confident going into the busy run in.

They have won 18 of their 20 games in all competitions with their only loss coming in the FA Cup 3rd Round away to Lincoln City from the league above.

They have also scored a staggering 86 goals, an average of over four per game, and kept 12 clean sheets.

If Alex Dicks and Leah Cudone continue adding to the 44 goals they have scored between them and Jo Daniel and co remain strong at the back, the 2021-22 season could be one to remember for Northampton Town Women.
